An indoor soccer competition among Greek Catholic seminaries for the Cup of the Blessed Martyrs of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church began in Lviv with a prayer and singing of the Ukrainian national anthem.
Future priests from Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Drohobych, and Bryukhovychi will compete for the cup.
Representatives of the Lviv Holy Spirit Seminary initiated the competition. They first played against the team from the Drohobych Seminary and won 9:2.
The website of the Lviv Archeparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church informs that the first round of the championship was dedicated to the memory of the blessed Clement Sheptytsky and Mykola Chernetsky.
The indoor soccer competition will last seven months and will be completed in 2014. On April 12 the organizers plan to hold an awards ceremony.
