Greek Catholic Sisters Servants Mark 110th Anniversary

The Congregation of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) celebrated its 110th anniversary on 25 August 2002. Cardinal Lubomyr Husar, head of the UGCC, also participated in the celebrations.

The Congregation of the Sisters Servants was founded in 1892 at the initiative of Sister Yeremiia Lomnytska, of the Order of Saint Basil the Great, and Fr. Kyryl Seletskyi. Blessed Yosafata Hordashevska, who was beatified on 27 June 2001 by Pope John Paul II, was also the cofounder of the congregation and the first sister servant. Today, the congregation consists of eight provinces and has thousands of members. Sisters Servants work in 14 countries of the world. Source: press service of the head of the UGCC
