On Thursday, April 25, Patriarch Sviatoslav of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church sanctified more than three thousand pieces of Easter bread for the Ukrainian military in the East of Ukraine, at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection in Kyiv. They will be handed over to the soldiers by chaplains, who will visit Donbas in the next few days.
This is reported by the Department of Information of the UGCC.
“Since the beginning of hostilities in the territory of our state, the chaplains of the UGCC are constantly standing side by side with the defenders of Ukraine. In the extremely important moments, one wants to feel closer to God, especially during Christmas and Easter, as well as on the holidays that a person has remembered from their civil life. Therefore, we want them to have a deep meaning again. That is why today, continuing this tradition, our chaplains together with our believers gathered Easter bread. Many people joined so that the Ukrainian soldiers felt the joy of Easter again,” said Fr. Andriy Zelinsky, deputy head of the Department of Military Chaplaincy of the UGCC.
