Head of UGCC meets with Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine

On January 24, 2020, at the residence of the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Kyiv, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, head of the UGCC, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine Larisa Galadza. The meeting was held at the request of the Ambassador, who started her diplomatic mission in Ukraine in November 2019.

According to the Information Department of the UGCC, at the beginning of the meeting, his Beatitude Sviatoslav congratulated Galadza with the beginning of her Ministry in Ukraine and wished him fruitful work for the good of the Ukrainian and Canadian peoples. The head of the UGCC also thanked for the presence of Bishop Stepan Sus in the Patriarchal Cathedral during the ordination.

The Ambassador thanked His Beatitude Svyatoslav for the sympathy he expressed on the day of the Ukrainian plane crash in Iran. "It is important that your sympathy was directed to all the relatives and friends of the victims without regard to their nationality and religious affiliation," said Larisa Galadza.

Consequently, the parties discussed a wide range of issues, especially paying attention to the role of the Church in the current circumstances of the Ukrainian state.
