At their meeting on 28 November, the heads of the Christian Churches of Ukraine came to the conclusion that the recent developments in the country show a severe crisis of understanding between the authorities and society.

At their meeting on November 28, the heads of the Christian Churches of Ukraine came to the conclusion that the repeated adoption by the Parliament of the Law on Unified State Demographic Register, the initiative of introduction of presumption of consent to transplantation of a person’s organs after their death and the passing of alterations to the Law on Freedom of Worship (Bill 10221) show a severe crisis of understanding between the authorities and society.

In particular, the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Patriarch Sviatoslav said, “The paradigm of church-state relations, which had been developing on the basis of partnership and dialogue, was threatened.”

The meeting was held in the building of the Church of Christians of Evangelical Church Philadelphia, reported the Institute for Religious Freedom (ІRF).
