The historic synagogue in Peresyp was severely damaged during a nighttime Russian attack on Odesa.

According to Shlomo Baksht, the chief rabbi of Odesa, the synagogue had not been used in recent years. However, it had served for many generations as a place of prayer, remembrance, and holiness, where ancient scrolls and books were preserved.
The Jewish community of Odesa is calling on world leaders and human rights organizations to immediately and unequivocally condemn these repeated acts of aggression.
"When a house of prayer is attacked, I expect the world to strongly denounce this act of violence. Senseless attacks on religious buildings and peaceful residents cross a moral line that has been crossed too often. This must stop. Our communities, our children, and our sacred sites deserve protection, not destruction," stated Rafael Kruskal, vice president of the Jewish community of Odesa and CEO of Tikva.
