There are 177 political prisoners from the temporarily occupied Crimea serving their sentences in Russian colonies, 108 of whom are representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people.

This was reported by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.

“177 political prisoners of Crimea are serving their sentences in Russian colonies, with 108 of them being representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people,” the statement says.

In general, according to human rights activists, 371 political prisoners have been registered and prosecuted in criminal “cases” during the occupation of Crimea. 229 of them are representatives of the Crimean Tatar people.

It should be noted that Russia does not stop persecuting Crimean Tatars on charges of the “Hizb ut-Tahrir case” even in the eleventh year of occupation of Crimea. The occupiers conduct new mass searches. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine calls the accusations of the Hizb ut-Tahrir case groups fabricated.

“Hizb ut-Tahrir is a political Muslim organization that has been operating in more than 50 countries, including Ukraine, for 70 years.

Human rights activists also believe that the Russians in Crimea have used the Hizb ut-Tahrir case as a “convenient tool” to persecute Crimean Tatars. The Crimean Tatars are Muslims, and it is very convenient to persecute them allegedly for Islamic terrorism.

The Office of the Commissioner for the Rights of Crimeans records the systematic failure to provide medical care to prisoners, which leads to a significant deterioration in their health and even death.
