Head of UGCC receives an honorary doctoral degree from St. Michael's College in Toronto
This was reported by the UGCC Department for Information.
St. Michael's College awards an honorary doctorate to individuals - both ordained and lay - for their contribution to the life of the Church and its faith through service, theological scholarship, or leadership.
“His Beatitude Sviatoslav's deep commitment to theological education is inextricably linked to his transformational leadership and witness in the heart of war-torn Ukraine. Few theologians have been called to put their words into practice as much as His Beatitude Archbishop Shevchuk has,” the president of the institution emphasized.
“In recognition of his deep commitment to theological education, transformational leadership, and courage in the face of an unjust war, I invite you, on behalf of the Senate and Board of St. Michael's College, to confer on His Beatitude Archbishop Shevchuk, the highest honor of our university, the degree of Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa,” said Dr. David Sylvester.
In his speech of gratitude, the head of the UGCC emphasized that he dedicates this award to the entire indomitable Ukrainian people.
