Metropolitan Klyment of Simferopol and Crimea of the OCU congratulated Donald Trump on his election as President of the United States. In his address, he thanked for the support of the Ukrainian Church under occupation. He also expressed hope that Ukraine would receive the adequate support required to achieve true peace.

This was reported by the Voice of Crimea.

“I congratulate Donald Trump on his election as the 47th President of the United States of America. I sincerely thank you for the first cadence (2017-2021), when President Donald Trump and his team made great efforts to preserve the Crimean Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Thanks to this support, the Ukrainian Church was preserved under occupation. I believe that President Donald Trump will become the president of peace who will put an end to the wars destroying this world. I hope that the newly elected President of the United States will assist Ukraine in achieving a just peace. I invoke God's blessing, I believe in the victory of good over evil,” Metropolitan Klyment wrote.

As reported previously, on January 31, 2020, representatives of the clergy of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine met with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Kyiv.

During the brief meeting, Archbishop Klyment of the Crimean Diocese of the OCU thanked the US Secretary of State for supporting the Ukrainian Church in the annexed Crimea.

As Bishop Klyment noted in his commentary, the assistance was in the fact that the US government (at all events that took place in the world) always voiced the problems of the existence of the OCU in Crimea. The Secretary of State kept this problem under his personal control.
