According to religions.unian.net, Patriarch Kirill in his address to the residents of Kharkiv after the ceremony of laying wreathes at the Glory Memorial in Lisopark warned against encroaching on the memory of the war.
“Blessed is he who gave up his life for his neighbours. The respect for the feat of those who died defending their motherland is based on this. Let the memory be passed from generation to generation, let no one ever dare to encroach on that memory with harmful fabrications, with poor, caricature, scurrilous attacks,” said Patriarch Kirill.
“Near the memorials to those who were killed in the Great Patriotic War, one realizes especially keenly the depth of the wound inflicted on the body of our whole people by the war. The depth of the wound of the memory of Ukrainians, Russians, Belorussians, all those who fought together to defend the Motherland, which was unified at that time, who fought together against the most dangerous and terrible enemy who intended to change the world according to his model.”
Patriarch Kirill greeted all the veterans on occasion of the Victory Day.
“You remember that time not from books, not from tales, you passed through it, you survived. The Lord gives you long life even though your life was hard. And your most important mission, your main task is to testify about the feat of the people, the eternal feat. And to bring up new generations of people in respect for that feat. Let the Lord keeps you for many good years. Let the Lord protect the Holy Rus, Russia, Belarus, Moldova, other countries, let the Lord keeps the whole world from terrible wars, feuds, human suffering. Many good years to you” stressed the Patriarch of Moscow.
