In Lviv, action to preserve Jewish tombstones continues
In Lviv, the work will continue to extract Jewish tombstones from the wall of one of the old buildings. This was announced today on the Facebook page by Marla Osborne, who runs the project to preserve the heritage of the Jews of Rohatyn. This was reported by Jewish News.
According to Marla Osbourne, on February 4, it turned out in the process of work that more powerful tools were needed to extract some matzevah gravestones.
The rescue operation will continue shortly with the efforts of the Lviv Volunteer Center, which operates under the Jewish Hesed Arie Foundation.
However, yesterday it was possible to deliver more than 50 Jewish tombstones from the wall of the Soviet house to the Yanovsky Jewish cemetery.
Jews, Ukrainians, French and Germans took part in the rescue of the Matzevah, having united to preserve the heritage.
