For the first time on Sunday of forgiveness, Fr. Mykola Kvych, the main military chaplain of the Odessa-Crimean Exarchate of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), visited the Naval Lyceum of Sevastopol. Students of the lyceum had the possibility through mutual forgiveness to take a step toward self-recognition, patience, and understanding. First of all Fr. Mykola explained the meaning of the Great Lent and the four Sundays which preceded the beginning of the Great Lent. So reported the web site of UGCC on 17 February with reference to the Press Service of Odessa-Crimean Exarchate.

Speaking to those present, Fr. Mykola remarked that “Syropusna Sunday is the time when through forgiveness of one another we experience faith, hope, and brotherly love.” Through the kneel-bowing prayers, ektenia of mutual forgiveness, and through the kiss of peace all the present students of the lyceum asked each other for forgiveness.

At the end of the meeting the priest granted an icon of Zarvanytsya’s Holy Mary, the Mother of God for the future chapel.
