Protestant churches have initiated the council, during which representatives of various Christian denominations discussed ways to spread Gospel values in various spheres of the life of Ukrainians.
The event was attended by representatives of Protestant churches, of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Kyiv Patriarchate) and the Roman Catholic Church.
One of the themes of the event was service to people who have suffered from war, or are in any way involved in the fighting. This, in particular, was stated by the UOC (KP) priest, chaplain Father Valeriy, who spoke about the realities of service in the ATO zone and the front-line areas.
An example of service to those affected by hostilities in Slovyansk is the “Good news” Church. Pastor Petro Dudnyk organized the evacuation from troubled areas of over 12 thousand people, the Church and the faithful continue to send foods and necessitiesto frontline settlements. They are also involved in the restoration of the destroyed homes.
The tenor of speeches on this issue was the idea that people in difficult situations are brought together by mutual aid and love of neighbor.
During the event, participants also discussed how to bring Christian values into politics to form a civil society of conscious Christians, which could become abasis for qualitative changes in the country. The result of the discussion was the declaration of readiness of the churches to interact more actively when involved inthe projects of social importance.
