"The Ayatollah is a religious office. This is the highest title for a Muslim ruler. This is for comparison, for understanding in our realities, it is like the Patriarch, it's like Patriarch Kirill, for example, ruled in Russia, sitting in the Kremlin," Horyevoy said.
He also spoke about the goal pursued by the Iranian rulers.
"Iran dreams of becoming the regional leader of the Islamic world, and it is contesting with Saudi Arabia for this leadership. These are different Sunni and Shia Muslim traditions. Iran is a state of Shiites who reside mainly in Iran and Iraq. And so Iran is trying to be a guardian state for Shiites and promote its version of Islam to the masses. Iran has a very negative attitude to the United States, which is due to the historical fact that the Islamic revolution took place after the overthrow of the Pro-American ruler of Iran, who promoted a Pro-Western lifestyle," Horyevoy explained.
He also added that any law passed in this country must comply with the Sharia law. Laws adopted by the government of Iran are checked for compliance by a special state body, and in case of non-compliance with religious norms, the law is sent back for revision.
