Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra receives new name from UNESCO

A recent UNESCO session of the World Heritage Committee made a decision on the way of writing in English of the name of the Kyiv-based UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A recent UNESCO session of the World Heritage Committee made a decision on the way of writing in English of the name of the Kyiv-based UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported about it, according to Vechirny Kyiv.

From now on, "Kyiv: Saint-Sophia Cathedral and Related Monastic Buildings, Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" is the officially approved name.

The name was changed in accordance with Resolution X/9 of the UN Conference on the Standardization of Geographical Names "Latinization of Ukrainian geographical names".
