Lviv city councilors approved the detailed plan of St. George Cathedral

On February 9, at the session of Lviv city council its members approved a detailed plan for renovation of St. George Cathedral with the reconstruction of the Pilgrimage of St. George, landscaping of Metropolitan gardens and proposals to determine the location of the monument to Metropolitan Andrey.

51 councilors voted for the respective decision, according to IA ZIK.
As stated in the explanatory memorandum, a detailed plan of St. George Cathedral was several times considered by the public. Several changes were made. Therefore, a corrected version of the detailed plan of St. George's Mount was adopted with respect to the proposals and comments made.
“The St. George's Cathedral is also a rightful UNESCO Heritage List item as the Church of St. George. The place where the ascent begins is a site of historical and architectural significance. That is, there can be no construction. There could be a park, including a playground,” Lviv’s chief architect Yulian Chaplinsky said.
