Due to the quarantine in Ukraine and the introduction of an emergency regime in certain regions to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the All-Ukraine Council of Churches and Religious Organizations declared March 25, 2020, a Day of Common Prayer and Fasting for Ukraine.

APPEAL

of the All-Ukraine Council of Churches and Religious Organizations

to common prayer and fasting for Ukraine

In the follow-up of our previous appeal to prevent the spread of coronavirus and to raise awareness of the ownership for the healthy future of Ukrainian society, maintaining democratic achievements of the state and respect for human dignity, rights and freedoms, the All-Ukraine Council of Churches and Religious Organizations appeals to all people of good will to join in common prayer and fasting (for those whose health condition allows) for Ukraine.

History shows that the unity of the people and mutual assistance to each other during the dire life trials is an important and effective means of defeating epidemics, natural disasters, and economic crises. However, for all believers, it is even more important to realize that only with God's help and wisdom can a person pass these difficult times with dignity, with peace of heart, with a sober mind.

To this end, the All-Ukraine Council of Churches and Religious Organizations declares March 25, 2020, as the Day of Common Prayer and Fasting for Ukraine.

We call on believers of different faiths, and especially in our country, who now depend on making difficult and responsible decisions on this day, to show humility and repentance before God, staying each in their place of residence. We call on all believers to turn to the Almighty with a prayer for protecting the life and health of every person, for granting assistance in the fight against the pandemic, for doctors and all those who sacrifice to serve their neighbors, for healing those affected by the disease, for wisdom and inspiration about taking practical measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Ukraine and the world. May the Lord inspire everyone, especially those in authority, to act wisely and responsibly to help the needy, the sick and the elderly, and to develop a plan to support the self-employed and those families who have been left without means of support through quarantine.

We keep faith, peace and tranquility in our hearts. With God's help, the challenge that we all face will be overcome, including thanks to the personal responsibility of everyone to comply with hygiene and quarantine requirements, coordinated preventive actions, the courage of our doctors, all medical staff and employees of other responsible industries.

We call on God's protection and blessing for everyone!
