President of the Conference of Roman Catholic in Ukraine Bishops Mieczyslaw Mokrzycki urged the faithful to take part in elections to be held on Sunday, the election is a privilege of democracy and an opportunity to express one’s views on the current government.
This is stated in the appeal of the Roman Catholic Metropolitan from Lviv.
"The elections provide an opportunity to vote for one or another representative and thus express one’s opinion regarding the present government and to assess its achievements. It is also a privilege given to us by democracy, the responsibility for the formation of our Motherland ,” writes the hierarch.
Metropolitan Mieczyslaw Mokrzycki quoted the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which states that every human community needs authority. However, the latter should “be rooted in human nature. It is necessary for the unity of the state, its role is to fosterthe common good as far as possible.”
“As Catholics, we feel responsible for our homeland and take part in the elections, giving voice for justice, honesty, respect for human dignity, economic development and a peaceful solution of difficult matters. These values may help to make the choices we are facing.
Let our prayer for Ukraine, for families, for each other be a support our responsible choice so thatthe ones we electchose the service to peopleand not their own needs as a priority.
I bestow my sincere blessing on you for this special time,”goes the statement by the President of the Conference of Roman Catholic Bishops in Ukraine, Metropolitan Mieczyslaw Mokrzycki.
