Metropolitan of Lviv of UOC-KP Passed Away

On July 5, 2010, Metropolitan Andrii (Horak) of Lviv and Sokal of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate (UOC-KP) died in a hospital after a severe illness at the age of 65.

LVIV — On July 5, 2010, Metropolitan Andrii (Horak) of Lviv and Sokal of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate (UOC-KP) died in a hospital after a severe illness at the age of 65. He was a permanent member and secretary of the Synod of UOC-KP. Patriarch Filaret will lead the funeral on July 8.

Patriarch Filaret by his decree appointed Metropolitan Yevsevii (Politylo) of Rivne and Ostrih temporary administrator of the Lviv Eparchy of the UOC-KP.

Metropolitan Andrii fell ill three years ago and underwent several operations.

“The Ukrainian Church has lost one of its most experienced archpastors. The ancient and famous Orthodox seat of Lviv, to the service of which the late Bishop Andrii dedicated almost all of his life, has become a widow. Let the Lord graciously accept the soul of the deceased Metroplitan Andrii in His Heavenly Host and let him rest with the righteous ones,” reads the report of the press service of the UOC-KP.
