Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) Metropolitan Onufriy (Berezovskyy) participated in the V plenary session of the 18th All-American Council, dedicated to the issues of orthodox outreach in the framework of his visit to the US on July 23 in Atlanta.

It was reported by the official site of the UOC (MP).

Addressing the Council participants, Metropolitan thanked Archbishop Tikhon for the invitation to the event and noted the role of the missionary work of St. Herman Alaska in the spread of the Orthodox faith in North America.

“He came without taking neither money nor treasures, but only the love of Christ and the joy of eternal life - the Gospel, said the head of the UOC (MP). “And he talked with people in love of the Lord - he tried to share the joy of eternal life, which he had in his heart to others.”

According to Metropolitan Onufriy, it is this sermon that was the key to the emergence of the Orthodox Church in the American continent.

“Today I see the result of his mission, because there is Christ in the eyes of all present members of the Council. This is a good fruit that the mission of St. Herman of Alaska brought,” summed up the hierarch.
