Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs believe that in the situation with Jerusalem, it is necessary to observe the norms of international law and to implement the relevant decisions of the Security Council.

It is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to ZIK.

“We believe that the global community should concentrate all efforts, including within the framework of the UN Security Council, to prevent violence and encourage the parties to immediately resume the negotiation process of the Middle East peace settlement,” the statement said.

As it was earlier reported, US President Donald Trump announced the decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, as well as the intention to transfer the US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. The American Embassy is currently located in Tel Aviv.

This decision by Trump excited extensive protests around the world. Thus, in the Palestinian territory, in particular, the portraits of Trump were burnt, and the Hamas movement promised to arrange a “day of anger” on December 9th.
