Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity of Ukraine, Oleksiy Chernyshov, and representatives of the Holy See discussed the preservation of dialogue between Christian denominations.

During a working visit to the Vatican, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of National Unity of Ukraine, Oleksiy Chernyshov, met with representatives of the Holy See. The attendees included Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations between States and International Organizations; Archbishop Flavio Pace, Secretary of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity; Archbishop Michel Jalah; and the Secretary of the Dicastery for the Oriental Churches.
The meeting focused on the importance of maintaining dialogue among different denominations and fostering mutual understanding.
Chernyshov emphasized that Ukraine is a multi-confessional state, where religious unity plays a vital role in national cohesion. He noted that the ministry aims to strengthen interfaith dialogue, promote mutual understanding, and support interreligious cooperation.
The Holy See reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of unity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine. Chernyshov also highlighted the significance of ensuring understanding and mutual respect among all religious communities in the country.
“In times of war, spiritual unity, solidarity, and mutual support are crucial. We are all one people, united by a common goal: a just peace, recovery, and a hopeful future,” he stated.
Additionally, the head of the Ministry of National Unity expressed his deepest condolences to the clergy on the passing of Pope Francis, acknowledging that his steadfast support for Ukraine and his calls for peace and humanity will always be remembered.
