MOSCOWThe Moscow Patriarchate sent a petition to the Russian government to allow Ukrainian chemical companies to buy gas directly from Gasprom and other Russian gas companies. The letter was sent by the Moscow Patriarchate to Viktor Zubkov, the first deputy head of the Russian Federation and head of the Board of Directors of the Open Joint-Stock Society Gasprom, the copy of which is published by UNIAN.

The letter dated February 26, 2010, and signed by the head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department on Relations between Church and Society states it was incited by an address of the head of the Council of Chemical Workers of Ukraine, Oleksii Holubov. The date of Holubov’s letter is not specified.

The patriarchate asks the first vice prime minister of Russia to “pay attention” to the position of Holubov, “taking into account the considerable help provided to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate by chemical companies of Ukraine.”

The patriarchate informed in writing the president of the Union of Chemical Workers of Ukraine about the petition on March 11.
