On March 29, 2011, the mufti of the Crimea, Nuri Efendi Mustafaiev, passed away, reports the website of the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Ukraine (SDMU).

Adzhi Nuri Mustafaiev (1930-2011) was a Crimean Tatar public and religious figure. He was born in the village of Buiuk-Ozenbash (Village of Shchaslyve of Bakhchisarai District). He held the post of the mufti of the Muslims of the Crimea from 1995 to 1999.

In 2000, he was one of the founders of the public organization "Azizler" which studies and preserves the heritage of the Crimean Tatars.

The Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Ukraine and, personally, Mufti of Ukraine Sheikh Akhmed Tamim send condolences to the relatives and family members of the deceased. "Adzhi Nuri Efendi cared about the preservation of the religious traditions of the Crimean Tatar people and always maintained close and good relations with the SDMU," Sheikh Akhmed Tamim said.
