Muslims are not terrorists: flash mob to support Crimean Tatars goes global

According to Ukrayina Moloda, referring to the organization Crimean Solidarity, the son of one of the participants in Bakhchisaray's Hizb ut-Tahrir case Dilyar Memetov recorded a video address in which he said that his father and other defendants in the case were not terrorists.

“Today, these people are accused of terrorism and the violent seizure of power. All these blatant allegations are based only on testimonies of false witnesses and insolvencies that cannot withstand any criticism, expertise, and I can confidently say that my father is not a terrorist. I can say that all the other guys have nothing to do with terrorism. Muslims are not terrorists,” said Memetov.

Later, the Muslims - Not Terrorists flash mob was launched online. Crimean Tatars from all over the world send photos to Crimean Solidarity with the slogan of the flashmob, showing their solidarity and support of the Hizb ut-Tahrir case defendants.

In addition, duas (prayer service, ed.) have taken place in more than 10 districts of Crimea, as well as in Turkey regarding the future “sentence” in the case of Hizb ut-Tahrir (the first Bakhchisarai group).

On Friday, December 21, the Hizb ut-Tahrir (first Bakhchisarai group): Enver Mamutov, Ramzi Memetov, Rustem Avilatrov and Zevri Abseitov said their last word in the court of Rostov. None of the defendants pleaded guilty. Everyone pointed to the political motivation of the criminal case.

As reported, Crimean Tatars Zevri Abseitov, Rustem Avilatrov, Remzi Memetov and Enver Mamutov were arrested on May 12, 2016.

Mamutov was charged with organizing activities of terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir. Memetov, Abseitov and Avilatrov – in participating in its activities, and subsequently they were also charged with an article on preparation for violent seizure of power.

The prosecution asks for 17 years in prison in a strict regime colony for Enver Mamutov, 10 years in a colony of strict regime for Zevri Abseitov and Rustem Avilatrov, 12 and a half years in a colony of strict regime for Ramzi Mametov.
