On July 25, Dnipro City Council session returned to the Muslims the building of Katerynoslavska Cathedral Mosque, which before the 1917 revolution was a center of Islamic life and one of the most beautiful urban buildings.

The Communists organized a cardboard-manufacturing facility there, then an NKVD club, then a sports school.

As an exchange, the local Muslim community bought the premises of a gym on Bohdan Khmelnitsky Avenue which next spring will be transferred to the children's sports school.

“Now in Dnipro, there will be a new sports school, a cultural center of the Crimean Tatar people, and a new Islamic center. We promised it to Mustafa Dzhemilev and the Majlis of the Crimean Tatars in 2014. In those terrible times when the invader came to their land. And we did it -- because the course of history is not to be stopped, and sooner or later justice always triumphs,” wrote Boris Filatov, the Mayor of Dnipro.
