NBU put into circulation UAH 50 coin commemorating Tomos

Today, the National Bank of Ukraine introduced another commemorative coin "Provision of the Tomos of Autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine". It was reported by the press service of the NBU.

Today, the National Bank of Ukraine introduced another commemorative coin "Provision of the Tomos of Autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine". It was reported by the press service of the NBU.

"The coin continues the Spiritual Treasures of Ukraine series, and has a nominal value of UAH 50. It is made of coin silver. The mass of pure precious metal is 500 g, diameter – 85 mm, circulation – up to 1,000 pcs. It is decorated with local gild, the gold content being no less than 0,006 g," goes the NBU's announcement.

The obverse of the coin shows: the Small State Emblem of Ukraine (at the bottom on the left), semicircular inscriptions: UKRAINE, the year of issue of the coin 2019 and the denomination of FIFTY UAH; in the center, there is a stylized cross-shaped composition, crowned with a gilded imprint of the seal of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, around the gilded medallions feature the cathedrals of the Local Orthodox Churches of the world, alongside with their names.

The coin reverse depicts against the mirror background Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew (on the left), which passes the roll (Tomos), to Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine Epifaniy (on the right) and inscriptions: 15TH CHURCH IN BLESSED CHOIR OF AUTOCEPHALOUS CHURCHES (in a semi-circle at the top) and "HOLY CHURCH OF UKRAINE"/06.01.2019 (at the bottom).
