Nearly 260 Thousand UAH Raised by Easter Basket Fair to Be Used to Help Children With Cancer

On 2 May, at Soborna Square of the Kyiv Cave Monastery, the closing part of the charitable Easter fair “Easter Basket” was held.

On 2 May, at Soborna Square of the Kyiv Cave Monastery, the closing part of the charitable Easter fair “Easter Basket” was held. The participants took part in a thanksgiving public prayer served by the secretary of the Synodal Information-Educational Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate, Protopriest Serhii Kotyk.

After the prayer, Fr. Serhii presented letters of Metropolitan Volodymyr to all the benefactors who contributed to the fair. The total amount of the funds raised by the charitable foundations through master classes, information campaign, charitable lottery is 15.5 thousand UAH.

The funds were raised for six children suffering from cancer. Two days of the fair were dedicated to each child.

Simultaneously, funds were gathered through the network of cash machines of Privatbank. The total amount of donations is 240 thousand UAH. The funds were to be passed to hospitals for purchasing of necessary equipment. However, during the Easter fair, the organizing committee received many letters and calls with requests to help other children suffering from cancer. Therefore, part of the funds may be transferred to the sick children and the other part will be used to buy the equipment.

The event was organized by the Synodal Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate and the National Historic and Cultural Reserve of the Kyiv Caves, reports .
