New Exarch of Odesa to Be Ordained in April

The enthronement of the new Exarch of Odesa will be held on April 12 in St. Andrew’s Church in Odesa. On this day Patriarch Sviatoslav Shevchuk’s decree on the appointment of the Exarch of Odesa as the administrator of the vacant throne of the newly created Crimean Exarchate will be read, the Information Department of the UGCC reports.

As was reported, on February 13, 2014, the Vatican announced that the Holy Father accepted the decision of the Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church to divide the Exarchate of Odesa and Crimea into the Exarchate of Odesa, with its seat in Odesa and the Exarchate of Crimea, with seat in Simferopol.
