New Head of UGCC to Visit Rome

After the Election Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), the newly elected head of the church together with metropolitans and members of the permanent synod will visit the Apostolic Capital. During their stay in Rome, the spiritual leaders of the UGCC will meet with Pope Benedict XVI and participate in joint divine services.

After the Election Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), the newly elected head of the church together with metropolitans and members of the permanent synod will visit the Apostolic Capital. During their stay in Rome, the spiritual leaders of the UGCC will meet with Pope Benedict XVI and participate in joint divine services. The website of the Christian Society of Ukrainians in Italy published the program of the planned events.

The program, in particular, includes:

March 30, 2011

10:30 - general audience with the pope at St. Peter's Square with the participation of the head and the permanent synod of the UGCC (assembly at 8:30 near the Gate of Sant' Anna);

April 3, 2011
10:00 - Hierarchical Liturgy in St. Sophia Basilica (via Boccea, 478) to be led by the newly elected head of the UGCC in concelebration with bishops and priests.
