New pastoral coordinator for Ukrainian Greek Catholics in Italy appointed

The Conference of Bishops of Italy appointed a new pastoral coordinator for the Ukrainian Greek Catholics in that country – Fr. Marko Yaroslav Semehen of the Ternopil and Zboriv Eparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, reports Radio Vatican.

Marko Yaroslav Semehen of the Ternopil and Zboriv Eparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, reports Radio Vatican. The appointment was made as the previous coordinator Fr. Oleksandr Sapunko's term, which began in 2005, came to an end.

According to information of the press service of the UGCC in Italy, the pastoral coordinator is chosen from among the clergymen of the church to which the migrants belong and, on the consent of the head of that church, is appointed by the Conference of Bishops of Italy for cooperation with the foundation Migrantes, an institution of the Conference of Bishops of Italy, which provides pastoral care for Italian emigrants in the world and foreign immigrants in Italy.

Father Marko Yaroslav Semehen from April 2009 served as the vice parish priest of the Ukrainian Parish of St. Sergius and Bacchus in Rome. In October 2008, he was ordained a priest. He repeatedly celebrated liturgies and said sermons in the Chapel of Annunciation of the Radio Vatican.
