Office of Philadelphia Mayor announces city-wide From Heart to Heart week
On the occasion of the beginning of the ministry of the new Metropolitan of Philadelphia Archeparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Metropolitan Borys Gudziak, whose enthronement took place on June, 4th in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the Mayor of Philadelphia James Kenney has launched a From Heart to Heart week.
"I, James Kenney, Mayor of Philadelphia, proclaim this week, running from 2 to 9 June in Philadelphia as the From Heart to Heart week and congratulate Metropolitan Gudziak on the opportunity to lead the Ukrainian-American Catholic community of our city and wish you all a joyful week, when we welcome a new spiritual leader in our locality," he announced.
Mayor Kenney, greeting His Eminence Borys on the beginning of his new ministry and the Ukrainian Catholic community with the enthronement of a new spiritual leader, stressed that the purpose of this week is to cherish unity between bishops, clergy and people of faith, to unite the UGCC and the Ecumenical Church and to develop Ecumenical relations, to strengthen relations between the Cathedral area and the city as well as to bring peace, humility and joy to the city, recognizing the needs of the poor and disadvantaged.
"Philadelphia is proud of the loyal Ukrainian-American community, for whom an important aspect of life is faith which gives strength, unity, sense of community to those who live in our city," the mayor said.
