From the onset of the antiterrorist operation Oleksandr Cherkassky, also known as “Asher”, as part of "Dnipro-1" volunteer battalion heroically defended the independence of Ukraine from Russian-backed terrorists in Donbas.

"Dnipro did not forget. I sincerely thank my brother, father Dmytro Povorotnyy of Dnipro Diocese of the UOC-KP and Bishop - Bishop Simeon of Kryvyi Rih and Dnipro for mutual cooperation and support,” Asher wrote on his Facebook page.

Earlier the Orthodox Hasidim said: "There is no atheists at war. Christians, Muslims, Jews are fighting at the frontline now. I cannot say whether there are Hasidim, I have not seen them personally. When you sit in the trenches and someone has to cover you, or there is someone you have to cover - religion does not matter.”
