In St. Nicholas’ Assembly Hall of the Uzhhorod Ukrainian Theological Academy of St. Cyril and Methodius of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) and Avhustyn Voloshyn’s Carpathian University, on March 14, scholarly readings were held on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the proclamation of Carpathian Ukraine.
According to the website of the Theological Academy, the event began with prayer and state Anthem of Ukraine.
After an introductory address of the Rector of the Academy and University, the Commissioner of UOC-MP on Higher Education and Science, Professor Archimandrite Viktor (Bed’), the scholars and students of the university made the following reports: “Historic and Legal Activity of Avhustyn Voloshyn,” “Ukrainian Question in International Politics Before WWII,” “Life, Cultural and Religious Activity of Avhustyn Voloshyn” and “Carpathian Ukraine as a Stage of Ukrainian State Creation Process.” During the event, the participants viewed a documentary about Carpathian Ukraine in 1938-1939 of a series “Council upon Blood.”
Then, the representatives of the academic clergy, professors, teachers and students formed a religious procession and walked to the monument to the Hero of Ukraine, Greek Catholic Priest and President of the Carpathian Ukraine, Fr. Avhustyn Voloshyn in the city of Uzhhorod where they lit memorial candles, laid flowers and attended a memorial litia for all the dead heroes of the Carpathian Ukraine served by the Rector of the Academy and University, the Commissioner of UOC-MP on Higher Education and Science, Professor, Archimandrite Viktor (Bed’).
