Already more than 100 parishes of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate have expressed willingness to join the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

Ukrinform has reported President Poroshenko as saying this at a meeting with the community of Stanishevsky amalgamated territorial community in Zhytomyr.

“Already over 100 communities have expressed willingness to join our Church, and this is extremely important,” said Poroshenko.

He reminded that several weeks ago the parliament decided that Ukraine should have the one Ukrainian Church.

“Other churches are not forbidden by anyone, but they should be called what they really are. If the Church maintains prayerfull communion with the Russian Orthodox Church, then what Church is it? Let it openly say it," said the head of state.
