Over 200 priests of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church came from different states of America to Chicago for a joint conference that will take place from October20 to 23, VIDIA reports.

Such conferences take place every five years and are an opportunity for clergy to exchange views on the issues that concern them more than 60 thousand faithful. This year, special attention was paid to social issues and family values, according to the theme of the Synod of Catholic Bishops in Vatican.

One of the main events of the conference was the festive Divine Liturgy at St. Joseph the Betrothed in Chicago. The Liturgy was led by Metropolitan Stefan (Soroka), Archbishop of Philadelphia and head of the UGCC in America. He was concelebrated by bishops of the three out of four dioceses of the UGCC in the United States: Bishop Paul (Chomnycky), Eparch of Stamford, Bishop Bohdan (Daniel), Eparch of Parma, and Bishop John (Bura), auxiliary bishop of Philadelphia, who was appointed last year to represent the UGCC in Washington.

Participating in the conference were priests from most US states from New York to California, from North Dakota to Texas.

The clergymen plan to visit the school of St. Fr. Nicholas in Chicago, which is one of the daily UGCC schools in America. In addition, they can visit the Ukrainian National Museum, which hosts unique exhibition of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytskyy.
