The Kyiv police started the investigation of a matter in which the ex-mayor of Kyiv Leonid Chernovetskyi and Pastor Sunday Adelaja are allegedly involved. The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Holosiiv District instructed the police to conduct a pre-trial investigation in the proceeding “Kidnapping of people” (Article 146) instituted on the basis of a written statement by citizen Alla Frolova, reported Segodnya.ua.

According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the former house worker of Chernovetskyi assumes in her statement that Chernovetskyi and Adelaja may be  involved in the case of disappearance in 1997 of her husband, Stepan Kroitor. Chernovetskyi called it a nonsense.

According to Frolova, her husband was a prosperous man in 1990s, an owner of several companies, president of an insurance company. “Stepan was a politician and businessman then but went missing suddenly. A week before that, he told me that he invested in Praveks Bank all his assets and that Praveks was his idea. The bank will transfer into my ownership, he said to me.

“In addition, my husband was a parishioner of the Embassy of God Church. On his arrival in Ukraine, Adelaja looked for rich patrons and was introduced to Stepan. After a night service and a talk with Adelaja, he went missing. One of the parishioners, Sviridov, said that my husband said after the talk that his eyes were opened with respect to the pastor,” said Frolova.
