According to Mark Burns, a spiritual advisor to the American president, the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska is aimed at holding the Russian dictator accountable to the world.
Inviting Putin to U.S. territory is not about honoring him. It is about cornering him. This is not a celebration. It is a confrontation. The meeting in Alaska is about holding Putin accountable face-to-face, with the eyes of the world watching and forcing him to make choices that could end the bloodshed," he wrote on the social media platform X, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
According to Burns, bringing adversaries to the negotiating table serves American interests and the cause of peace, demonstrating strength and confidence.
“President Trump is showing true leadership, which is willing to confront evil directly to stop it, not avoid it for appearances,” the pastor stated.
The American pastor believes that Putin's refusal to meet will not make him disappear; rather, it will only "prolong the war and the suffering of the Ukrainian people."
Additionally, Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy has announced that the state of Alaska will host the upcoming meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and the Russian president.
Earlier, Trump announced that his meeting with Putin is scheduled for August 15 in Alaska. On the same day, the U.S. president expressed confidence that Putin would likely meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky soon, and that a peace agreement involving both would be signed in the coming months.
