“I cannot think of a way to assess the contribution of Patriarch Filaret to the struggle for his own local Church. He was, is and remains a spiritual leader of the Ukrainian Church, a spiritual leader of the Ukrainian people. That is why I have decided to confer on him the title of the Hero of Ukraine,” said the President.
