Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has greeted Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych on Independence Day.

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has greeted Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych on Independence Day, KyivPost reports.

"Your recent election for the president post helped to restore peach and harmony in the society, settle problems and return the state to beneficial cooperation with historically related countries. A way to the better future of brother nations, their prosperity and happiness of their sons and daughters is seen in the preserving of traditions of the past and in spiritual unity of the nations," Patriarch Kirill said in a posting on his Web site.

Patriarch thanked Yanukovych for his good attitude toward the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

He wished Yanukovych good health and success and he wished Ukrainians peace, serenity, and abundance of earth fruits and heaven gifts.
