“I was very pleased to hear that the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate even invited the government and opposition to meet in the Kyiv Cave Monastery and opened the door of his home for such a conversation. I think in this environment the steps that will calm the situation will arise, but we are convinced that the people will only be appeased when the government of Ukraine clearly and unambiguously indicates the direction of development of our country. If the vector of development of the state will be clearly declared as European – which our president has said many times, as well as our prime minister – then I think that people will be appeased. However, today there is a great lack of trust, because in recent months words do not correspond with deeds. If the people see that our government and our president clearly and unambiguously indicate the European direction for development, I think people will understand this, believe it, and Ukraine will continue to develop in this way,” said the head of the UGCC to the Russian journalist Alexander Golubev.
