Patriarch Sviatoslav and Archsbisop of UOC-Moscow Patriarchate Discuss Joint Participation in Opening of Ukrainian Christmas Tree in Vatican

The Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Patriarch Sviatoslav met with the head of the Department of External Church Relations of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate, Archbishop Oleksandr (Drabynko) of Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi and Vyshnevsk on 19 October.

The Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Patriarch Sviatoslav met with the head of the Department of External Church Relations of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate, Archbishop Oleksandr (Drabynko) of Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi and Vyshnevsk on 19 October.

In particular, the parties discussed joint participation in the opening of the Christmas tree from Ukraine at the Square of St. Peter in Rome in December, 2011. According to the web site of UOC-MP the conversation was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

According to a tradition established in the end of the last century, Christmas trees from all over the world are brought to the Vatican. This year, it is Ukraine’s turn.

The tree will be transported from the Lviv region of Ukraine. Artistic groups from Ukraine will participate in the opening. An official Ukrainian delegation is also expected to attend the event.
