The session is taking place in the Holy Assumption Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, according to the Information Department of the UOC (MP).

Out of a total of 90 diocesan and vicarious archbishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, who have the right to vote, 83 are present at the Council.

According to the Statute on Governance of the UOC, the quorum is made up of 2/3 of its members, that is 56 bishops. Thus, the Council of Bishops is held in the presence of a quorum. As RISU has reported, this morning the Synod of Bishops of the UOC (MP) took place.

The Council of Bishops is the continuation of the morning Synod of Bishops.

From the insider sources of RISU it became known that today at the Council reprisals may be undertaken against the hierarchs of the UOC (MP), who have adopted a positive attitude towards the autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
