The Cabinet of Ministers has returned the buildings of the Pochayiv Holy Assumption Monastery (Pochayiv, Ternopil region) to the Kremenets-Pochayiv State Historical Architectural Reserve, the Ukrainian News reported.
The Cabinet of Ministers issued a corresponding decree at a meeting on Wednesday, Ukrainian News reported.
The Cabinet abolished its order No. 438 of July 17, 2003 “On removal of the buildings of the Pochayiv Holy Assumption Monastery from the Kremnets-Pochayiv State Historical and Architectural Reserve”.
In November, the anti-raider commission of the Ministry of Justice cancelled the state registration (expelled from the register) of the right of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) to use the Pochayiv Holy Assumption Monastery in the Ternopil region and transferred it back to the Kremenets-Pochayiv State Historical and Architectural Reserve.
The Ministry of Justice came to the conclusion that the registrar violated the requirements of the current legislation when registering the right to use for the complex of Lavra buildings.
Earlier, the Ministry of Culture asked the Ministry of Justice to cancel the transfer to the use of the UOC-MP of the real estate of the Pochayiv Holy Assumption Monastery in the Ternopil region.
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) stated that the decision of the Ministry of Justice to cancel the registration of the complex of buildings of the Holy Assumption Pochayiv Monastery outside the UOC-MP's monastery does not deprive them of the right to use it because this decision does not cancel the use agreement of 2003.
