Pope appoints special envoy for Lviv celebration of jubilee

Pope Benedict XVI has named Cardinal Josef Tomko, Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, as his Special Envoy to the solemn celebration of the jubilee that will take place in Lviv.

Pope Benedict XVI has named Cardinal Josef Tomko, Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, as his Special Envoy to the solemn celebration of the jubilee that will take place in Lviv, Ukraine, on the occasion of the 600th Anniversary of the establishment of the Archepiscopal and Metropolitan See of Lviv, News.VA informs.

In accordance to the decision of the Apostolic See in 1412, the capital of the Lviv archbishops was moved from Halych to Lviv.
