Pope's Envoy for Peace in Ukraine, Cardinal Zuppi, makes first official statement

Pope Francis is not neutral when it comes to demanding peace. He is always in solidarity with the Ukrainian people - stated Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, the pontiff's special envoy for peace in Ukraine.

He made his first public statement after the Pope entrusted him with leading a special mission to end the war in Ukraine. Zuppi, the Archbishop of Bologna and President of the Italian Episcopal Conference, has significant experience in participating in Catholic Church peace initiatives. He referred to the war in Ukraine as a pandemic that affects everyone. He emphasized that all Christians are called to be peacemakers.
