Petro Poroshenko, President of Ukraine, suggests to transfer St Andrew's Church to the Ecumenical Patriarch for permanent use. This was stated during a meeting of the Conciliation Council of the parliamentary factions (groups), broadcast by the ZIK TV channel, by Iryna Lutsenko, Poroshenko’s representative in the Verkhovna Rada.

Iryna Lutsenko stressed that the President of Ukraine extends gratitude to the Ecumenical Patriarch for his stance on the issue of the Tomos as far as Moscow is concerned.

The MP informed the parliamentarians that President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko supports the desire to receive the Tomos as soon as possible and, as a sign of solidarity with this process, makes a symbolic gesture –a bill will be registered by the state leader proposing to transfer St Andrew's Church into permanent use of the Ecumenical Patriarch," to symbolize the fact that St. Andrew baptized Ukraine at a certain moment back in history.”

“This will be a symbolic gesture of our unity with the Mother Church. President Poroshenko appeals to the parliament, to all factions to support this bill on the transfer to the Ecumenical Patriarch of St. Andrew's Church into permanent use,” said Iryna Lutsenko.
