During the visit to Portugal, President Petro Poroshenko and his wife Maryna Poroshenko visited the Fátima Pilgrimage Center.

The presidential couple prayed for peace in Ukraine.

The Head of State noted that there are few places in the world filled with special energy and spiritual power, and Fátima is one of them. “Visiting such a site of pilgrimage, especially on the eve of Christmas, gives each of us an additional impulse for understanding our actions and the meaning of our earthly life,” the President said.

Petro Poroshenko stressed that Ukrainians were forced to sacrifice their lives not only for the independence of their state, but also for the freedom and values on which the united Europe is based. And in this war more than 10 thousand Ukrainians perished and almost 1.8 million became IDPs.

The President emphasized: "Today, on the eve of Christmas holidays, I believe in the victory of good over evil and the return of peace to Europe".
