President Yanukovych Greets Roman Pope on 85th Birthday

Ukraine’s president greeted Pope Benedict XVI on his 85th birthday and the 7th anniversary of his pontificate.

Ukraine’s president greeted Pope Benedict XVI on his 85th birthday and the 7th anniversary of his pontificate. The text of the greeting address was posted by the presidential website.

“Please accept sincere greetings on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of Your enthronement as the Pope. The years of your pontificate showed your relentless activity to protect Christian values, strengthen peace between the nations and deepen the interdenominational dialogue,” noted President Yanukovych.

The president pointed to the high level of cooperation between Ukraine and the Vatican both in bilateral relations and within the framework of international organizations.
