Priests Persuaded Security Forces to Leave Area Near St. Michael’s Church

A correspondent from the channel Inter in a live broadcast from the Maidan confirmed that a group of 50 Berkut special police officers appeared near St. Michael’s Church. After talking with priests, the officers retreated.

The journalist also said that in the center of Kyiv Internet connection is being disrupted.

A field hospital has been set up in St. Michael's Church because the Trade Union House was engulfed in flames.

On February 18 in Kyiv the confrontation between opposition protesters and police officers escalated. On Tuesday evening the Berkut stormed the Maidan. Dozens of people have been reported dead and thousands more have been wounded, UNIAN reports.
